History

Throughout the 1990s, Washington state severely neglected its infrastructure priorities, specifically in transportation, which led to a tremendous backlog of safety and mobility needs statewide. New transportation investments in 2005 and 2007 made headway toward tackling the highest priority projects; however, most of that investment has been exhausted and a significant backlog of unfunded and underfunded needs remains.

Washington needs an earnest and thoughtful public debate about the state’s infrastructure priorities and a mapping of new investment. The Roundtable advocates prioritization and investment in transportation as part of a comprehensive plan that addresses environmental concerns and ensures accountability.
