Check out our new 2013 Chair’s Report. This annual publication provides a summary of progress against our 2013 Policy Agenda and perspective on work left to be done. Key among the year’s highlights was enactment of a balanced state budget that focuses new investment on K-12 education, with accompanying reforms, and increased funding for higher education to address our state’s skills gap. The biggest disappointment was the legislature’s inability to pass a statewide transportation investment. The Roundtable believes such a package is critical to rebuilding Washington. Our coalition of business, labor and environmental interests is urging Gov. Inslee to call the legislature back into session this November to approve a new transportation investment package. It is past time to deliver a package that preserves the transportation system we have and finish projects in important economic corridors.
Special session for transportation needed now
Talk has been heating up this week about Gov. Inslee possibly calling a special legislative session this November to address transportation. We couldn’t agree more. Our system is ailing and in need of new investment. Keep Washington Rolling – our coalition of business, labor and environmental interests – is urging lawmakers to come back in November and get this done. Read more in today’s press release and follow the Keep Washington Rolling effort on the coalition web site or on Facebook.
