WA takes lead with NextGen science standards

On Friday, Gov. Inslee and State Superintendent Randy Dorn announced that Washington will be the eighth state in the nation to adopt the Next Generation Science Standards. This is a solid move for Washington and a great step for our kids. It’s about setting expectations for what students should know by the end of every grade level in the major areas of science. Washington leads the nation in the creation of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) jobs. Yet employers are constantly stuck trying to find qualified candidates here. This is about getting great science experiences for all of our kids and making sure they achieve the skills they need at each grade level so they are prepared for the great opportunities that exist here. Kudos to Washington for being a leader. Get more detail and sign up for the ReadyWA newsletter.
