We were happy to join employers and community leaders from across the state in Olympia yesterday to celebrate the launch of Opportunity Washington: Priorities for Shared Prosperity.
Over the last year, we’ve worked with our historic WashACE partners to examine our state’s strengths and weaknesses, we visited communities across the state and we answered key questions about what’s working in Washington and what needs improvement. We came to one unifying goal, which is the basis of this new Opportunity Washington effort: Expand Washington’s culture of opportunity to every corner of the state. This new roadmap focuses on three guiding priorities: Achieve, Connect, Employ. We want Washington to lead the nation in education quality and outcomes, in transportation system reliability and efficiency, and in innovation and economic growth. This a long-term vision, not a one-session strategy, and the work starts now.
The coalition is growing. We invite others to join by signing on at www.opportunitywa.org. You can follow @opportunitywa on Facebook and Twitter. Or check out the LinkedIn page. Here’s a bit more of an introduction from employers – large and small – in their own words…
