Microsoft Introduces TechSpark: A New Program Aimed at Growing Economic Opportunity for All Americans

This month, Microsoft launched TechSpark, a national civic program aimed at fostering greater economic opportunity and job creation through partnership with rural and smaller metropolitan communities. In a post on LinkedIn, President Brad Smith said, “Our focus with TechSpark is to do more work outside the country’s major metropolitan centers. By partnering closely with leaders and communities on the ground, our goal is to learn more about regional challenges and how technology can help better contribute to local economic growth, with a plan to share our learnings more broadly.” Learn more about the program here.


Puget Sound Energy Partners with Food Lifeline to Support Hunger Solution Center

Over the past five years, the Puget Sound Energy Foundation has donated the equivalent of 1.2 million meals to Food Lifeline, an organization serving 275 local food banks, shelters, and meal programs. Just recently, PSE donated a new high-capacity generator, worth approximately $200,000, to help preserve Food Lifeline’s 17,000 square foot freezer and fridge in the event of a power outage. Mariners Care Raises Over $2 Million for Local Charities in 2017

Mariners Care, the Seattle Mariners non-profit foundation, and its corporate partners, helped provide $2,151,142 in 2017 for a variety of charitable programs throughout the Northwest. Since 1991, when Mariners Care was established, the nonprofit has helped raise over $25 million to benefit primarily youth-oriented community service programs. “The Seattle Mariners have long been leaders in giving back to the community. It is a responsibility that we all take very seriously. I’m proud to continue the tradition that has helped this organization make such a positive and lasting impact on our community,” said John Stanton, Mariners Chair and CEO. Read more here.
