Pleased to share some recent news from across the Washington Roundtable member this month:
Board leadership and membership: We are pleased to welcome our 2025 leadership team: Julie Sandler as chair; Jeff Roe as vice chair, and Kerri Schroeder as secretary/treasurer. We’re also happy to welcome five members to the board: Brian Marlow, Washington Market President, KeyBank; Matt Oppenheimer, Co-founder and CEO, Remitly; Uffe Ostergaard, CEO, Carrix, Inc. / SSA Marine, Inc.; Stephanie Pope, President and CEO, Boeing Commercial Airplanes; and Heather Rosentrater, President and CEO, Avista.
Work-embedded learning: Roundtable companies continue to foster learning opportunities and create real-world experiences for Washington students. Weyerhaeuser partnered with Sustainable Forestry Initiative and Project Learning Tree to send a message to rural youth that they can have rewarding, well-paying careers in their own hometowns.
Supporting students: Amazon’s recent Community Impact Report highlights the work they’re doing in the Puget Sound region, such as investing in programs to help K-12 students, college students, and adult learners develop digital skills for the future, to include 146,000 student hours through Amazon Future Engineer and over 58,000 learners accessing free training at the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Skills Center.
Industry developments: Congrats to PACCAR for being named a 2024 Top Company for Women to Work for in Transportation by the Women in Trucking Association, and to Microsoft, which is marking its 50th anniversary in 2025.
